Job Title: Assistant Curator - Primates

Twycross Zoo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Curator - Primates to join our team. As a key member of our animal management team, you will be responsible for the care and well-being of our primate species, including our great apes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional leadership and management to a large team, ensuring a positive and solution-focused approach to challenges.
  • Ensure the highest standards of animal care and welfare, in line with best practice and zoo licensing requirements.
  • Develop and implement effective animal management plans, including breeding programs and species conservation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote the zoo's conservation efforts and education programs.
  • Contribute to the development of new exhibits and enclosures, ensuring they meet the highest standards of animal welfare and visitor experience.
Requirements:
  • Minimum BSc (or equivalent) in an animal or conservation-related subject, with a strong background in primate biology and behavior.
  • Extensive experience in animal management, with a proven track record of leading and inspiring teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Strong knowledge of conservation principles and practices, with a focus on species conservation and habitat preservation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to changing circumstances.
