Job Description

United Living Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of projects from pre-contract to final account.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre-Contract: Assist in the preparation of tenders, including checking quantities for major elements, and analyse tender quotations for exclusions and conditions.
  • Project Delivery: Ensure a detailed understanding of bid allowances and complete a thorough handover with the estimating team. Collaborate with the project team to deliver successful projects and achieve business unit objectives.
  • Procurement: Prepare and implement the project procurement strategy with the Operations Manager. Support the Group Procurement Department in buying deals and chair subcontract interview meetings.
  • Main Contract: Support the Operations Manager in providing monthly reports to customers, ensuring accurate forecasts of rolling draft final accounts and contractual notices. Develop and maintain close relationships with customers, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Subcontract: Prepare and negotiate interim valuations and final accounts, including measurement and documentation of variations with the supply chain.
  • Financial: Manage project profit and loss accountability, use company cost systems, and forecast cash on an accurate and timely basis. Monitor preliminaries/site management costs and advise on action to remedy over-expenditure.
  • Legal/Dispute: Assist in the preparation of claims or dispute management to correct imbalances of cost and value. Study contract documents and advise on onerous conditions.
Requirements:
  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or similar commercial-related course.
  • Professional qualification MRICS or MCIOB desirable.
  • Good data interrogation skills and line management experience.
  • Commercial awareness with good legal/contractual knowledge and experience.
  • Experience of management accounts and proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (Advanced).
  • Commercial contracting experience, re-measurement skills, and previous experience in construction or a similar sector.
  • Valid driving license and CSCS card at an appropriate level.
