About the Role
SSE is a leading energy company committed to a low-carbon future. We're seeking a talented Land Manager to join our Onshore Origination, Land and Estates team, providing maternity cover for a 13-month period. As a key member of our team, you'll play a crucial role in the growth of our UK portfolios, primarily for Onshore Wind, Power to X, Battery Energy Storage, and Solar projects in Scotland.
Main Accountabilities
- Provide a range of land services, including commercial and contract negotiations, dispute resolution, consultant management, acquisition, joint ventures, land management, and due diligence.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of contacts with landowners, land agents, solicitors, consultants, local authorities, consultees, industry bodies, and communities.
- Manage the timely delivery of all land agreements and land rights required for projects throughout the development and construction process.
- Ensure transparency of deliverables and risks with internal stakeholders.
- Provide advice across multiple business areas on organic growth, repowering, life extension, hybridization, and co-location.
Requirements
- No prior experience in renewables is required, but a relevant understanding of and interest in the UK renewables landscape is desirable.
- Prior experience of land management across both rural and commercial sectors is beneficial.
- A good working knowledge of relevant Landlord and Tenant legislation is essential.
- Experience in the negotiation of leases, options, land acquisition, and wayleaves is desirable.
- Previous planning and development experience of projects involving multiple land ownerships, along with the ability to identify land and planning-related risks and develop proposals to mitigate them, is highly valued.
- Passion and drive to work on your own initiative and deliver within a team environment are essential.
