The Play Participation Officer will be responsible for delivering key training and play development activities as part of the Spaces to Be Project.
'Spaces To Be' (S2B) - Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, this exciting new project aims to advocate for the child's right to play as a means of supporting children's mental health and resilience whilst positively addressing difference at an individual, family and community level.
S2B utilises play-based methodologies to address the negative impact of ill mental health and wellbeing (IMHWB), building resilience, enhancing community understanding and supporting the development of a society of diverse and inclusive thinkers.
The Play Participation Officer (PPO) will work across Northern Ireland as required to deliver PlayBoard's Spaces to Be Community Development training with practitioners and deliver participative play sessions with children, young people, parents/carers and practitioners.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver key training and play development activities as part of the Spaces to Be Project.
- Work with practitioners to deliver PlayBoard's Spaces to Be Community Development training.
- Deliver participative play sessions with children, young people, parents/carers and practitioners.
- Advocate for the child's right to play and its benefits for children's mental health and resilience.
- Build relationships with community groups and stakeholders to promote the Spaces to Be Project.
- A level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., playwork, youthwork, childcare, or community development, such as NVQ Level 3 Playwork).
- Experience in planning & organising training sessions or events for children & young people, as well as practitioners.
- A minimum of 2 years' full-time experience of face-to-face delivery with children & young people and practitioners, within a playwork, youthwork, childcare, or education setting.
- Experience in facilitating sessions with children & young people and practitioners.
- Experience of writing progress reports.
- Experience in working to a monitoring and evaluation framework.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the importance of play for children and young people.
- Pension package with Standard Life.
- Occupational sick pay subject to service.
- 24 days' holiday per year plus 11 bank holidays.
The contract for this post will be up to 30th September 2028, subject to funding.
