We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ecological Consultant to join our team at Lucion. As a Principal Ecologist, you will play a key role in delivering ecological assessments, providing expert advice to clients, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and ambitious individual to work on a variety of projects, from large-scale infrastructure developments to biodiversity conservation initiatives. You will have the opportunity to work on a range of ecological projects, conduct surveys and assessments, build strong relationships with clients, and mentor and support graduate ecologists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Oversee a range of ecological projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
- Ecological Surveys and Assessments: Conduct ecological surveys and assessments, including habitat assessments, protected species surveys, and ecological impact assessments (EcIAs).
- Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing clear and concise ecological advice and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Mentorship: Mentor and support graduate ecologists, providing guidance and overseeing their work to ensure high-quality outputs.
- Report Writing: Prepare and review technical reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), EcIAs, and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments.
- Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with relevant UK wildlife legislation, planning policies, and industry standards.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: Degree in Ecology or related field.
- Experience: 4+ years experience in ecological consultancy, with a strong track record of managing and delivering projects.
- Knowledge: Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy.
- Skills: Proficiency in conducting ecological surveys and assessments, particularly for protected species and habitats. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in report writing and client presentations.
- Travel: Full UK driving license and willingness to travel as required to site.
