Job Overview

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join our UK&I Life Pricing team as a Senior Pricing Actuary. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and pricing protection accounts in the UK and Ireland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tender Process Management: You will actively participate in the tender process for new and existing opportunities, focusing on the UK and Irish Term Life and Critical Illness product lines.
  • Pricing Model Development: You will develop and maintain detailed models for pricing protection deals, including data analysis, experience studies, and projection of cash flows.
  • Deal Documentation: You will prepare technical deal documentation and provide support to the commercial deal lead, ensuring seamless execution and client satisfaction.
  • Benchmarking and Methodology: You will research, develop, and maintain EMELA's pricing benchmarks, methodologies, and tools, ensuring they remain effective and efficient.
  • In-Force Portfolio Analysis: You will collaborate with In-force Management and Valuation teams to analyze the in-force portfolio, identifying areas for improvement and optimizing performance.
  • Client Meetings and Proposition Development: You will attend face-to-face client meetings, assisting in developing client propositions and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Qualified Actuary: A minimum of 5-10 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Pricing Experience: Relevant pricing experience in (re)insurance, particularly with life and critical illness product lines.
  • Analytical Skills: Proven analytical skills, with the ability to work on complex problems and deliver results under pressure.
  • Self-Motivation and Time Management: Self-motivated with excellent time management and prioritization skills, able to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R), MS Office suite, and experience with relevant modeling packages (e.g., AXIS, Risk Agility, Prophet).
  • Product Knowledge: Familiarity with life insurance and critical illness product lines would be beneficial.

The estimated annual salary for this role is around £85,000, depending on location and experience.
