About this opportunity

Gleeds is seeking a highly skilled M&E Cost Manager to join our team. As a key member of our cost management department, you will be responsible for managing costs and budgets of construction projects, from early cost advice to settlement of the final account.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Business Unit Directors in delivering business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers.
  • Deliver high-quality cost management services and ensure that deliverables meet customer requirements.
  • Manage projects and deliver high-quality services and deliverables in accordance with business procedures.
  • Prepare and present order of cost estimates and option studies.
  • Conduct cost planning and cost-in-use studies.
  • Advise on and implement procurement strategies.
  • Prepare tender documentation and manage the tender process, including designing tender marking schemes.
  • Evaluate and report on tenders.
  • Value completed work and arrange for payments.
  • Settle final accounts.
  • Administer contracts as Contract Administrator or Employer's Agent.
  • Produce and present reports to customers.
  • Identify new business development opportunities and drive growth across business units' activities.
  • Manage service delivery for profit.
  • Advise Directors promptly of any issues that have arisen or may arise on projects, particularly those that may impact on Gleeds' professional indemnity (PI) insurance.

About You

Who we're looking for:

Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

  • Sound cost management experience post MRICS qualification.
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience of cost estimating and planning.
  • Good knowledge of construction methods and materials.
  • Working knowledge of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract strategies.
  • Good knowledge and experience of post-contract cost management tasks.
  • Clear and effective communication skills - both oral and written.
  • Methodical way of thinking and approach to work.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to quickly adapt to changing environments.
  • Excellent problem, negotiating, finance and numeracy management skills.
  • Sound ICT skills, with a good level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to absorb complex information and assess requirements readily.
  • Clear understanding of legislation impacting on building contracts.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

  • MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors)
