LONDON BOROUGH OF TOWER HAMLETS is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Leader in Attendance and Participation to improve outcomes for children and young people.

The estimated salary for this role is £65,000-£80,000 per annum.

We are looking for a dynamic, creative and committed leader who will contribute to improving attendance and participation in our schools. Our Attendance Welfare Service is a large, multi-skilled team that provides policy and procedural advice, works in partnership with other professionals to support parents and pupils, and exercises statutory authority to follow legal procedures.

The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of the law and guidance related to attendance and persistent absence, as well as excellent interpersonal skills to work closely with schools and lead a team of 8-10 Attendance Welfare Advisors. This role requires leadership on attendance, participation in policy development, and accountability for allocated areas of action planning.

In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the management team in developing the strategic plan and leading on proactive support plans to address the needs of particular schools, cohorts, and individual pupils. You will also require knowledge of and the ability to use and interpret statistics.
