Job Summary:
VGC is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our team. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for overseeing the commercial aspects of our projects, ensuring that financial and contractual objectives are achieved while maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the administration of contracts, including overseeing variations, claims, and disputes to ensure that all contractual obligations are met by both the company and its subcontractors.
- Monitor and control project budgets, forecasts, and cash flows, providing financial insights and analysis to support project decision-making and ensure the project remains financially viable.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle, developing strategies to manage and minimize potential financial and legal risks.
- Lead the procurement process, including supplier selection, contract negotiation, and performance monitoring, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and value for money.
- Prepare detailed reports for senior management and stakeholders, outlining financial performance, contract status, and key risks.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all commercial activities.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and suppliers, to ensure alignment on project goals and commercial objectives.
- Lead and mentor a team of quantity surveyors and commercial staff, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Requirements:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex financial and contractual issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools, including MS Office and contract management systems.
- Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or in a similar role on large-scale infrastructure or construction projects, ideally within the rail or transportation sector.
- Proven track record of managing commercial risks and disputes, as well as a solid understanding of procurement processes and supply chain management.
