About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Clinical Coder Trainee to join our team at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. As a Clinical Coder Trainee, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Trust in providing accurate and reliable clinically coded data for all inpatient and outpatient activity.
Key Responsibilities
As a Clinical Coder Trainee, your key responsibilities will include:
- Extracting relevant information from case notes and source documents to enable coding of clinical activity.
- Critically analyzing data from all available sources relevant to the episode of care and investigating and interpreting the information to determine the appropriate coding translation.
- Using ICD10 (diagnostic codes) and OPCS4 (procedure codes) to code clinical activity and applying national and international rules and conventions to agreed standards.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Education to A level standard or equivalent relevant passes.
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Experience of working in a hospital and/or office environment.
