Faststream Recruitment is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer for our client based in the Liverpool area.

The Client

Our mission focuses on the global defense and security sectors, where we combine advanced design technology with precise engineering to create next-generation inflatables, rigid-hulled inflatables, and high-speed workboats.

The Role

You will join a multi-disciplinary production and engineering team as a Junior / Mechanical Design Engineer, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining small craft through 3D models, drawings, and documentation. This role spans products and projects from concept to completion, including testing and implementation. You will work closely with project management, purchasing, and production teams to ensure smooth development and manufacturing. Regular coordination with production, suppliers, and contractors is essential, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, manufacturability, quality, and functionality.

  1. Design and develop high-quality, innovative products that meet the company's technical and commercial needs.
  2. Collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team of Operations Managers, Project Managers, Engineers, and Procurement and Production staff.
  3. Develop inflatable, bonded, and sewn assemblies/fabrications in alignment with in-house production capabilities.
  4. Update previously produced products to align with current design standards and manufacturing advancements.
  5. Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software is required, though experience with comparable 3D modeling software in a professional setting may also be considered.
  6. A HNC or Level 4 NVQ in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field will be considered, alongside anyone with a degree or experience in a similar role.
