Learning Support Assistant

The school is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join their team, providing support for primary and secondary aged pupils with a wide range of needs associated with Autism. The successful candidate will work with students who have a designated Education Health Care Plan (EHCP), detailing their specific needs.
The school aims to provide a safe haven and therapeutic approach, reflecting the high standards of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work with complex neuropsychological needs and challenging behaviours, providing an ideal stepping-stone to further training and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with Autism and associated learning and behavioural needs.
- Work with a range of therapists, including SALTs, Occupational therapists, psychologists, and counsellors.
- Implement effective communication techniques and specialist communication methods.
- Provide 1-1 support for every pupil and contribute to a balanced, creative curriculum.
- Focus on preparation for 'life after school' and support students with Makaton, PECS, and TEACCH.
Requirements:
- Psychology degree or specialist SEN training highly desirable.
- MAPA or Team Teach training an advantage.
