As a Technical Manager at MorePeople, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of our fresh produce products. Estimated salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have a degree-level qualification in a relevant field and 3-5 years' experience in a technical, commercial, or procurement role within the fresh produce industry.

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with customers, working closely with internal teams to ensure alignment on customer requirements and delivery standards, and maintaining up-to-date technical documentation.

Responsibilities
  1. Customer-Facing Responsibilities:
    1. Address customer queries, complaints, and crises proactively, maintaining brand reputation.
    2. Attend meetings, audits, and conferences with customers, ensuring clear communication of action plans.
    3. Regularly update customers on product developments, compliance, and seasonal product variations.
    4. Share industry trends, legislative changes, and competitor insights to maintain competitive positioning.
    5. Assist in product launches and manage technical activities including shelf-life testing and packaging validation.
  2. Internal Support Responsibilities:
    1. Work closely with technical, procurement, and quality departments to ensure alignment on customer requirements and delivery standards.
    2. Understand and support supply chain costing, product yield, and wastage metrics to assist in effective sourcing and trade planning.
    3. Maintain up-to-date technical documentation, manage supplier audits, and ensure regulatory compliance.
    4. Oversee the quality of packed products against customer standards through production monitoring and store visits.
    5. Engage with regulatory bodies and produce industry groups to keep abreast of best practices in the fresh food sector.
Requirements
  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant field.
  • 3-5 years in a technical, commercial, or procurement role within the fresh produce industry, with regular customer engagement.
  • Project management, customer relations, Microsoft Office expertise, and strong organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed and a clean UK driving license.
