Inflammatory Nurse Specialist for Dermatology

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Inflammatory Nurse Specialist for our Dermatology team at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, and contributing to the development of our services.
Key Responsibilities- Management
Ensure that patient referrals meet the necessary criteria, working closely with the lead CNS and the multidisciplinary team to develop treatment plans.
Participate in all aspects of dermatology care, under the guidance and supervision of the lead CNS.
Liaise with the medical team to ensure that patients receive prompt and effective care, in line with guidelines and treatment pathways.
Act as a mentor to pre- and post-registration nurses, assisting in meeting their learning needs.
Contribute to the development of the MDT through participating in local service development initiatives and the implementation of local and national strategies.
CLINICALWork with a supported caseload of patients, while working as part of the multidisciplinary team.
Ensure that patients are educated regarding their treatment and its effects, and provide advice to ward staff regarding dermatology care.
Assess and identify the physical, psychological, spiritual, and cultural needs of patients, providing support for newly referred patients and their families.
Develop individualized patient treatment care programmes in conjunction with the medical and other professional protocols.

Person SpecificationEssential Qualifications and Training
- Registered Nurse Degree or equivalent experience
- Teaching and assessment course or equivalent experience
- Care of patients with dermatology
- Phototherapy course
- Completed competencies to deliver biologic therapy
Desirable Qualifications and Training
- Masters Degree or working towards
- Counselling course
- Prescribers course
Experience
- Significant post-registration experience
- Experience of working within the multidisciplinary team
- Experience of liaising with internal and external agencies
- Diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures and post-procedure care
- Experience of care for patients with inflammatory skin disease
- Experience of caring for patients requiring biologic therapy
- Experience of caring for patients requiring phototherapy
Knowledge and Skills
- Evidence of continued professional development of self and other healthcare professionals
- Organisational skills, mentorship, and teaching
- Evidence of completed competencies of caring for patients with dermatology conditions
- Understanding of the psychological impact of patients with dermatology conditions
