Maidstone Borough Council is seeking a motivated and experienced Team Leader to join our Homeless Pathway team, working on an evening shift. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of staff responsible for managing all temporary accommodation placements, direct lets, private sector move on, and our own discretionary placements into and out of the housing pathway.
The role involves line managing support officers who specialise in dealing with complex clients and domestic abuse, requiring excellent knowledge of these areas. The postholder will need a flexible approach to working times to meet the demands of the job, including some evening, weekend, and early morning working. The post holder will also be required to cover the on-call out of hours rota.
The successful candidate must have thorough experience of managing staff in the homeless realm, be able to juggle multiple pressures, and love a challenge. They must be passionate about ending the cycle of homelessness and have previous experience of working with complex households to ensure good and robust outcomes.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be community-focused, and understand the local area and the needs of the residents. They must be able to manage their own and the team's workload with minimal supervision and have the skills to ensure the team is meeting their Key Performance Indicators and other funding targets.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of staff responsible for managing all temporary accommodation placements, direct lets, private sector move on, and our own discretionary placements into and out of the housing pathway.

- Develop and implement strategies to ensure the team is meeting their Key Performance Indicators and other funding targets.
- Work closely with the Homeless Pathway Manager to ensure the team is meeting its objectives.
- Provide support and guidance to staff to ensure they are able to manage their workload effectively.
Requirements:
- Thorough experience of managing staff in the homeless realm.
- Excellent knowledge of homelessness legislation and Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended).
- Ability to juggle multiple pressures and love a challenge.
- Passionate about ending the cycle of homelessness.
- Previous experience of working with complex households to ensure good and robust outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills and community-focused approach.
- Ability to manage own and team's workload with minimal supervision.
