Placement Support Officer Job Description

Myn is recruiting for a Placement Support Officer to work with vulnerable children and young people in the South East of England.

Main Responsibilities
  • Placement Sourcing and Quality Assurance: Assist in sourcing, monitoring, and quality assuring placements for children and young people up to the age of 18.
  • Market Research and Analysis: Research and provide market information to optimise the services offered for children, young people, and families.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with social workers, foster care providers, and other relevant partners to ensure high-quality care.
  • Emergency and Long-term Placements: Manage emergency and long-term placements, often under time-sensitive and high-pressure conditions.
  • Contract Commissioning: Assist with Children's Contract Commissioning, ensuring cost-effective and customer-focused care contracts.
Key Duties
  • Placement Tailoring: Source placements tailored to the individual needs of children and young people, ensuring value for money.
  • Placement Processes: Support placement processes for foster care, residential care, and special educational needs placements.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor performance and compliance of service providers in collaboration with senior managers.
  • Placement Records: Maintain accurate placement records, ensuring all contractual requirements are met and reported on.
  • Relationship Building: Build strong relationships with providers, statutory bodies (e.g., OFSTED), and colleagues across services.
  • Advice and Guidance: Act as a point of advice for staff regarding placement procedures and resources.

We are looking for an experienced Placement Support Officer to join our team at Myn. The ideal candidate will have a passion for improving the outcomes of children and young people and be able to manage a caseload in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

The successful candidate will have strong negotiation skills, excellent communication skills, and a good eye for detail when monitoring contracts. They will also be able to build strong relationships with providers, statutory bodies, and colleagues across services.
