Software Engineering Manager

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to join a historic British icon at the forefront of Engineering, during an exciting period of technical transformation.

The Role

The Software Engineering Manager will act as the bridge between Design Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and other technical users, to understand needs and incorporate them into a clear software roadmap, ultimately designing, developing, and maintaining the software and computational tools used. The focus will be on back end/server-side development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of talented software engineers to deliver against software projects
  • Strategically and proactively manage a complex software estate, with the development environment comprising Microsoft technologies (C#,.NET), as well as distributed systems, HPC, Cloud computing, and technologies such as Kubernetes and Airflow
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand needs and incorporate them into a clear software roadmap

Requirements

  • A solid background in software engineering, with proven experience of leading and developing teams
  • Experience of working within smaller teams/companies requiring flexibility and agility is preferred
  • Experience in Engineering or other technical environments would be beneficial
  • Experience of championing cloud-native development and leading transformation and cloud migration projects would be advantageous
