Financial Controller Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join our team at Reed. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting systems, treasury management, and accounts payable and fundraising finance income processing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the accuracy and integrity of our general ledger
  • Ensure internal controls are in place, including prompt reconciliations of control accounts, separation of duties, and compliance with prescribed systems of authorisation
  • Assist in the preparation of annual accounts, in compliance with the SORP and relevant GAAP, and liaise with external and internal auditors
  • Lead in the preparation of the annual cash flow forecast and monthly reconciliations between forecast and actual
  • Manage the purchase ledger function, ensuring the ledger is kept clean and at an acceptable level
  • Assist with the credit control function, in liaison with relevant service leads
  • Oversee the Fundraising Accountant role, ensuring accuracy of reconciliations between Fundraising and Finance
  • Manage the Fixed Asset Register, ensuring its accuracy
  • Submit quarterly VAT returns and VAT reconciliations
Requirements:
  • ACCA/ACA/CIMA/ACMA Qualified or QBE
  • Previous experience of working within a charity - desirable
  • Well-rounded experience across transactional accounts, financial reporting, budgeting, and analysing
  • Experience assisting with leading an accounts team
  • Competence with Excel
