About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team at James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic care to patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide a flexible anaesthetic service to a variety of surgical specialties, including general surgery, colorectal surgery, orthopaedic, trauma, gynaecology, urology, ENT, dental, and emergency surgery.
  • Develop and implement anaesthetic plans for patients undergoing complex surgical procedures.
  • Conduct pre-operative assessments and provide anaesthetic care to patients in the operating theatre.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of clinical governance policies and procedures within the anaesthetic department.
  • Contribute to the education and training of junior anaesthetists and medical students.
  • Participate in research and quality improvement projects within the anaesthetic department.

Requirements

  • FRCA or equivalent qualification.
  • MBBS or Basic Medical Degree.
  • Full GMC registration.
  • Experience of providing anaesthetic care to patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and patients.
