Public Sector Resourcing is seeking a highly skilled Corporate Governance Specialist to fill the role of Internal Controls Lead for UKRI.

About the Role

This 4-month contract opportunity requires an experienced professional with expertise in developing and implementing good corporate governance practice within a public sector or government organisation.

As an Internal Controls Lead, you will work closely with colleagues across UKRI to support decision-making, ensuring the organisation operates best practice throughout its governance, accountability, risk management, and integrated assurance arrangements.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead on the review, co-development, updating, and implementation of existing operational governance policies, focusing initially on the UKRI Delegations Framework.
  • Implement updated operational governance policies into 'business as usual' by the team, focusing on Gifts & Hospitality and Declaration of Interests policies and processes, ensuring adherence to these policies.
  • Develop, maintain, and embed processes to test and provide assurance that UKRI governance policies are being adhered to, focusing initially on Modern Slavery.
  • Develop a more integrated approach to operational governance across UKRI, setting up an informal network for governance professionals to co-develop policies and share best practice.
  • Provide expert advice and support for high-priority governance work across UKRI on an ad-hoc basis.
  • The role may include supervision of up to three team members, providing a supportive and mentoring environment.
Requirements
  • Experience in developing and implementing good corporate governance practice in a public sector or government organisation, with an interest in policy development and implementation.

We estimate the salary for this role to be around £65,000 per annum, based on national averages for similar positions in the UK.
