Management Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Management Accountant to join our team at St George's Weybridge, a leading independent co-educational Catholic day school in Surrey. As a key member of the Finance team, you will be responsible for leading a team of 4 staff and influencing the role to drive business growth and improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the day-to-day running and activities of the Finance team, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks and adherence to reporting deadlines.
- Manage electronic archiving and control information on the Accounts drive.
- Ensure all staff work within Finance Policies and Procedures as set by the Board of Governors.
- Act as the first point of contact for the Finance team on technical accounting matters.
- Support the Director of Finance in developing the careers of other Finance team members through day-to-day support, training, and opportunities for development.
- Arrange personal development reviews and external training as necessary.
- Identify opportunities for driving efficiencies into existing processes by supporting and implementing initiatives to increase automation and technology use.
- Produce accurate and timely management accounts packs from Sage, presenting to the Director of Finance each month, including forecasting.
- Support the Director of Finance in compiling the overall School budget for presentation to Governors, ensuring all nominal accounts are reconciled and discrepancies dealt with.
- Manage the fixed asset module, ensuring depreciation is posted to Sage before month-end procedure.
- Support the Director of Finance in capex budgeting, including capital bids, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment for fixed assets.
- Oversee daily posting of bank transactions, ensuring accurate recording in Sage 200 and timely bank reconciliations.
- Support the Director of Finance in ensuring bank mandates are up-to-date and controls are aligned to Financial Control Procedures.
- Professional financial qualification, such as CIMA or ACCA.
- Previous experience in finance work, preferably in education, particularly in the independent sector.
- Sage 200 Accounting program or similar.
- Understanding of charitable accounting and legislation.
- Understanding of GDPR and relevant financial legislation.
- Full understanding and experience of preparation, execution, and presentation of management accounts to key stakeholders.
- Management experience.
- Understanding and appreciation of the Catholic school environment and interest in the independent school sector.
- Commitment to providing a quality service and high level of customer care.
