Public Affairs and Communications Officer

We are seeking a Public Affairs and Communications Officer to join our team at THE CURVE GROUP.
About the Role:This is a 6-month fixed-term contract to cover a career break for the permanent post-holder. The successful candidate will have a strong background in media relations, journalism, or public affairs, with a keen interest in business and politics.
The ideal candidate will be able to write press releases, draft op-eds, and apply their creativity to our social media channels. They will also be responsible for dealing with enquiries from national print and broadcast journalists, helping to prepare spokespeople for TV and radio appearances, and accompanying them to studios.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement communications strategies.
- Write press releases and op-eds.
- Manage our social media presence.
- Deal with enquiries from national journalists.
- Support spokespeople for TV and radio appearances.
- Proven experience in media relations, journalism, or public affairs.
- Knowledge of national, regional, trade, and digital media.
- Strong understanding of current affairs, business, economics, and politics.
- Good organisational and team working skills.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Sound judgement and news sense.
- Ability to create media opportunities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
