Geography Subject Lead Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geography teacher to take on the role of Subject Lead. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Geography department and ensuring the continued delivery of excellent teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • To be an excellent classroom practitioner, ensuring the maintenance of standards and providing outstanding pastoral care.
  • To develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies, including the use of assessment to record, track, and report pupil progress.
  • To oversee the setting, marking, and moderation of examinations and assessments, ensuring that departmental reporting is in line with school policy.
  • To promote and develop a positive ethos towards assembly and assist the Senior Leadership Team with planning and visiting speakers to the school.
  • To undertake other reasonable duties related to the job purpose, as required.

Requirements

  • Excellent teaching and leadership skills, with a proven track record of raising academic standards.
  • Ability to provide outstanding pastoral care and support to pupils.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, parents, and pupils.
  • Ability to use assessment to record, track, and report pupil progress, and to develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies.
  • Commitment to the school's values and ethos, and a willingness to contribute to the school's responsibility for the welfare and safeguarding of pupils.
