Geography Subject Lead Role
Bishop Challoner School is seeking a dynamic and well-qualified Geography Subject Lead to join our team.
Key Responsibilities
- To ensure continued delivery of excellent teaching and learning in Geography.
- To monitor the academic progress, behaviour and welfare of pupils, and report regularly to the Deputy Headteacher and Head of Section.
- To be an excellent classroom practitioner, ensuring the maintenance of standards and differentiated approaches to meet the full range of pupil needs.
- To provide outstanding Pastoral Care and ensure that the subject specification and related Schemes of Work are prepared, followed and regularly revised.
- To promote, develop and monitor Geography teaching and learning strategies in the classroom, using assessment to develop learning needs.
- To oversee and teach the work for public examinations, and monitor the setting, marking and moderation in line with school homework policy and internal exams.
- To ensure that a strategy is in place to identify the needs of children with SEN/Spld and to meet the needs of the most able pupils.
- To develop the implementation of ICT in teaching and learning in Geography as appropriate.
Requirements

- Well qualified and an excellent teacher, able to provide excellent Teaching and Learning.
- Able to use assessment to record, track and report pupil progress.
- Able to uphold and promote the school's spiritual values and ethos.
- Support and contribute to the school's responsibility for the welfare and safeguarding of pupils.
- To play a full part in the life of the school community, including Form Tutor, to support its distinctive mission and ethos and to encourage staff and pupils to follow this example.
- An excellent communicator, able to motivate and interest pupils, and maintain high professional standards of attendance, punctuality, appearance, conduct and positive, courteous relations with pupils, parents and colleagues.
- Able to engage actively in the performance review process, attend meetings and staff training and be a part of the peer-to-peer support initiative.
