The Role

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Principal Professional Services Project Manager to manage and successfully deliver our European Operational Technology professional services portfolio. This position will allow for you to utilize your professional services expertise, communication, facilitation, and mediation skills to establish and improve the European project delivery model for professional services projects.
The candidate must have the technical background and experience required to interact directly with strong technical engineers and management. They must have a proven track record in successfully managing complex power infrastructure projects, demonstrating strong leadership, strategic thinking, and exceptional project management expertise.
The successful applicant will contribute to project delivery excellence in support of utility customers in the energy generation, transmission, and distribution industries. The role will report to the Senior Director, Professional Services Europe, and is based in our Reading (UK) office.

Your Impact

  1. Develop and execute project plans that seamlessly align with organizational objectives and contractual commitments. Methodically outline timelines, incorporating key milestones for invoicing and labour requirements to ensure precision and adherence to project milestones.
  2. Effectively oversee project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting, ensuring precise management and accountability. Implement robust cost control measures and optimize resource allocation to enhance efficiency and financial performance.
  3. Communicate project progress, milestones, and challenges accurately to executives and project sponsors, ensuring clear and transparent communication that facilitates informed decision-making.
  4. Establish and rigorously enforce project governance standards and procedures to ensure the formal closure of the project. This includes orchestrating all necessary steps to conclude project activities, conduct necessary reviews, document key insights, and ensure a seamless transition to post-project phases.
  5. Guide, mentor, and inspire diverse project teams within a matrix organization, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Constantly champion professional development, providing unwavering support to nurture the growth and success of each team member.
  6. Cultivate and exemplify a strong business acumen within the team, proactively identifying and capitalizing on upselling opportunities embedded within our projects to drive additional growth.
  7. Deploy strategic, project-tailored approaches to risk management by implementing effective mitigation strategies. Recognize, evaluate, and proactively address both potential risks and ongoing issues within the project to ensure comprehensive and resilient project delivery.
  8. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
  9. Establish and enforce quality standards for project deliverables by conducting regular project reviews to ensure compliance with quality requirements and the delivery of high-quality outcomes.
  10. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the project management function by consistently assessing and enhancing service processes. Proactively identify and eliminate bottlenecks or inefficiencies, while leveraging best practices and valuable lessons learned from previous projects to optimize overall project performance.
  11. Elevate customer satisfaction by understanding their needs, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery while upholding a high standard of excellence. Additionally, leverage survey results to drive continuous improvements and enhance the overall customer experience.
  12. Collaborate on customer-facing pre-sales initiatives, providing valuable support deal and contract reviews. Demonstrate meticulous attention to details with a focus on optimizing terms and conditions.

What You'll Need

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  2. Proven experience as a Project Manager in the power utilities industry with depth knowledge of the power infrastructure in at least two of the following areas: generation, transmission, and distribution.
  3. PMP or relevant project management certification is a plus.
  4. Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, and conflict resolution skills.
  5. Exceptional proficiency in customer interaction and adept problem-solving skills, coupled with a keen business acumen.
  6. Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale, multiple complex program engagements.
  7. Proven record managing multicultural technical teams within a matrix-based organization.
  8. Extensive experience in the software or process within the utilities industry.
  9. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong commitment to providing superior customer service.
  10. Excellent English verbal and writing skills, a second language is advantageous.
  11. Regional travel at least 35% of the time.
