Job Overview

We are a dynamic and supportive team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, seeking a highly motivated and experienced Registered Staff Nurse to join our Ear, Nose, and Throat Ward. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the delivery of high-quality services.

Main Responsibilities

As a Ward 3 Nurse, you will be responsible for providing holistic care to patients with complex needs, including those requiring airway management, tracheostomy, and laryngectomy care. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care transitions and provide individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs.

You will also be responsible for administering medications and nutrition through alternative routes, such as NG tubes, PEGs, and RIGGs, while supporting patients in becoming independent at home upon discharge.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to expand their clinical role. You should be aware of changes within nursing practice and have knowledge of clinical governance and relevant policies and procedures.

Desirable criteria include research and development experience, knowledge of leadership and management, and evidence of clinical competence in the area of specialty.

Qualifications and Education

We require an appropriate NMC registration, a Diploma in Nursing, and an NMC recognized Mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards it following 18 months in post. Evidence of continuing education or development is also essential for more experienced Band 5 nurses.
