We are seeking a dedicated School Caretaker to join a vibrant secondary school in Maidstone for a temporary period of 6 weeks. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the school by maintaining a safe and functional environment for all staff and students.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting general maintenance tasks throughout the school premises to ensure all facilities are in good working order.
  • Regularly inspecting, identifying, and resolving any safety hazards to maintain compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Responding promptly to repair requests and coordinating with external contractors when necessary.
  • Assisting in setting up facilities for school events and rearranging furniture as required.
  • Monitoring the security of the school premises, especially during opening and closing times.

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Proven experience in maintenance, facilities management, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations within a school environment.
  • Ability to handle and operate maintenance equipment and tools safely.
  • Enhanced DBS check (required due to the nature of the role involving work in a school setting).
  • Practical problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude.
  • Good physical condition to manage manual tasks and walking around large premises.
