Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Optical Engineer to join our team at Azure Fiber, a leading research and development organization in the field of optical fibers. As a Senior Optical Engineer, you will play a key role in developing the next generation of optical fibers for cloud computing.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate new types of glasses that can improve the optical and mechanical performance of hollow core fibers.
  • Develop and implement new methods for making preforms that can produce hollow core fibers.
  • Evaluate and measure glasses, preforms, and fibers using sophisticated tools.
  • Work with external glass suppliers to create a viable supply chain of glassware with adequate optical and geometrical parameters.
  • Collaborate with other teams at Azure Fiber and external partners to ensure consistency of objectives, standards, and best practices.
  • Report and share the outcomes and progress of the research to internal and external audiences.
  • Operate and oversee advanced optical fiber production equipment within a quality management and safety aware environment.
Requirements
  • Technical engineering experience or a Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Fiber Optics Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
