About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a Health and Justice Navigator. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, providing high-quality support to individuals in custody suites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive health and social care assessments to individuals in custody, identifying their needs and developing effective plans to address them.
  • Work collaboratively with police officers, custody staff, and other agencies to ensure seamless delivery of services and effective communication.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including police, courts, and social care agencies, to ensure effective referrals and onward support.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks, ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals and staff.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to police officers and other agencies on health and social care issues, ensuring informed decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
Requirements
  • Professional recognized qualification in a relevant field, such as nursing, social work, or occupational therapy.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues, learning disabilities, and the criminal justice system.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable populations, including children and young people.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and PACE code C.
