Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Engineering Specialist to join our team at The Recruitment Group.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced engineer to work on high-power diode laser test stations, responsible for optical assembly, testing, characterization, calibration, and documentation. As part of the production process, you will be working closely with our team to ensure the highest quality standards are met.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct high power laser diode testing, including power, spectrum, near-field and far-field beam profiling, polarization, and thermal performance on various mounted and unmounted laser diode bars and chips.
  • Develop and document operating procedures for high power diode laser testing stations.
  • Develop, execute, and document calibration procedures for high power diode laser testing stations.
  • Set up, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Analyze testing data and present complex results in a consistent and concise reporting format.
  • Develop new test station and methodology, including integration of equipment hardware and software.
  • Manage test scheduling and results database.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Able to work as part of a team and deliver high-quality results.
  • Practical experience with lasers or electronic/mechanical assembly and test engineering is advantageous.
What We Offer

The salary for this role is £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits.
