SEMH Pastoral Lead Opportunity

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead on all SEMH pastoral care initiatives across the school, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all pupils.
  • Provide tailored, individualised support to students with SEMH needs, working closely with senior leadership, teachers, and external agencies.
  • Design and implement SEMH strategies and interventions that promote positive behaviour and mental health, monitoring and evaluating their effectiveness.
  • Offer guidance and support to staff, enabling them to better understand and manage SEMH-related challenges within the classroom.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and the wider community to support students' social, emotional, and academic progress.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience working with students with SEMH needs, ideally in an educational or pastoral setting.
  • A strong understanding of mental health issues, behavioural management techniques, and safeguarding protocols.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and external partners.
  • An empathetic, non-judgmental, and patient approach, with a passion for making a difference and promoting positive outcomes for vulnerable young people.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, mental health, or counselling would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
