Job Summary
The Kitchen Assistant/Domestic Cleaner is a key role within the Health Centre at Eton College, responsible for assisting the Cook with food preparation, serving meals, cleaning, and maintaining the kitchen and designated areas to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for inpatients.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist the Cook with food preparation, maintaining high standards of food hygiene, and serving meals to inpatients.
- Clean and maintain the kitchen, including dishes, utensils, and crockery, and ensure they are ready for use.
- Perform general cleaning and tidying of the kitchen, including mopping floors and wiping surfaces.
- Use powered equipment for vacuuming, shampooing, scrubbing, and polishing floor areas.
- Ensure all duties are carried out with hygiene and infection control in mind.
- Perform other duties as reasonably requested by the Senior Nurse Manager to ensure the safe and effective operation of the Health Centre.
- Commit to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, including completing safeguarding training and ensuring confidentiality.
Working Pattern
- This is a part-time position working 25 hours per week, with hours from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm, Monday to Friday.
- The role is for term-time only, plus 3 days before the boys start back at the beginning of each term and after they leave at the end of each term.

- Previous experience of food preparation and/or cleaning in a work environment.
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
