Job Duties
Clinical Responsibilities
- Participate in inpatient care across designated wards and engage in the frailty-in-reach rota.
- Conduct new and follow-up outpatient consultations.
- Take part in the integrated general medical on-call duties, currently operating on a 1:20 rota.
- Provide coverage for colleagues during their absence.
- Offer leadership and contribute to the service's development.
Organizational Responsibilities
- Mentor and train junior staff, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
- Serve as a clinical and educational supervisor for locally employed doctors and trainees.
- Actively engage in departmental and organizational matters related to Clinical Governance and audit.
- Lead and support the effective evolution of the service.
- Ensure participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Develop clinical protocols, guidelines, and care bundles.
- Uphold the Trust's Equal Opportunities Policy.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for all stakeholders and attend relevant health and safety training.
- Strive for excellence in all duties performed.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations with team members.
- Collaborate on personal development plans and support training needs.
- Attend management training related to health and safety and risk assessment.
- Participate in setting personal objectives and reviews, including development plans.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- MRCP Part 1 and Part 2 or equivalent experience.
Desirable Qualifications
- MD or PhD or evidence of equivalent training and experience.
Entry Criteria
Essential
- Full Registration and a license to practice with the General Medical Council.
- On the specialist register for geriatric medicine (via CCT or CESR).
- Meets the criteria outlined in the Specialist generic capabilities framework.
