The Opportunity

At Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, we are seeking a Senior Operations Technician to join our Manufacturing - Wells department in Pencoed on a permanent basis. This role will work on a 24/7 shift pattern.

About QuidelOrtho, Pencoed

QuidelOrtho has been manufacturing products in South Wales for over 40 years. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, based in Pencoed, employs over 600 people who are involved in the manufacture and supply of clinical laboratory and immunohematology products to sites across the globe.

Your new role:

As a Senior Operations Technician at QuidelOrtho, you will work as part of the Operational team at the Pencoed manufacturing site with the primary responsibility to carry out the routine manufacture and quality control of the range of immunodiagnostics products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out standard duties such as set up/set down and general running of the production lines. Also monitor Operation Technician tasks and assist Principal Operation Technician as required.
  • Ensure reconciliation and SAP transactions are completed in a timely manner at the end of the batch.
  • Monitor yield and priority faults during routine manufacture and escalate as per Well Manufacturing Reaction Plan.
  • Support training and mentoring new colleagues & Operation Technicians within the work environment.
  • Attend M1 & M2 production meetings to report recurring issues in order to resolve and drive improvement to production metrics. In absence of Principal operations technician to attend daily M3 production meeting.
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in compliance with all regulations and laws governing business and quality operations (QRS/GMP, ISO, etc.). Responsible for ensuring compliance with all local, national, international and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
  • Planning of activities pre and post changeovers, also able to populate shift handover and give a detailed handover to the incoming shift.
  • Responsible for updating Metric board.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years relevant operational experience at QuidelOrtho or similar industry.
  • GCSE Levels Maths and English essential.
  • Production line or Laboratory background desired.
  • Microsoft office experience essential (Including Excel).
  • Effective verbal communication to support team working and collaboration with own and other departments.
  • Understanding of shop floor management techniques to ensure smooth flow of product through the factory.
  • Ability to perform basic problem solving and decision making.
  • Flexible towards overtime.
  • Ability to work a 24/7 shift pattern.
