We are seeking a Senior Operations Technician to join our Manufacturing - Wells department in Pencoed on a permanent basis.
About QuidelOrtho, Pencoed
Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Pencoed employs over 600 people who are involved in the manufacture and supply of clinical laboratory and immunohematology products to sites across the globe. Our team in Pencoed manufactures a large menu of immunohematology products used in transfusion medicine, as well as a range of immunoassay products encompassing various disease categories.
Your New Role
As a Senior Operations Technician, you will work as part of the Operational team at the Pencoed manufacturing site with the primary responsibility to carry out the routine manufacture and quality control of our range of immunodiagnostics products. Your key duties will include:
- Carrying out standard duties such as set up/set down and general running of the production lines, monitoring Operation Technician tasks, and assisting the Principal Operation Technician as required.
- Ensuring reconciliation and SAP transactions are completed in a timely manner at the end of the batch.
- Monitoring yield and priority faults during routine manufacture and escalating as per the Well Manufacturing Reaction Plan.
- Supporting training and mentoring new colleagues and Operation Technicians within the work environment.
- Attending M1 and M2 production meetings to report recurring issues and drive improvement to production metrics.
- Ensuring all activities are carried out in compliance with all regulations and laws governing business and quality operations (QRS/GMP, ISO, etc.).
- Planning activities pre and post changeovers, populating shift handover, and providing a detailed handover to the incoming shift.
- Updating the Metric board.
- Performing other work-related duties as assigned.
What You'll Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Minimum 2 years relevant operational experience at QuidelOrtho or a similar industry.
- GCSE Levels Maths and English essential.
- Production line or Laboratory background desired.
- Microsoft office experience essential (including Excel).
- Effective verbal communication to support team working and collaboration with own and other departments.
- Understanding of shop floor management techniques to ensure smooth flow of product through the factory.
- Ability to perform basic problem-solving and decision-making.
- Flexible towards overtime.
- Ability to work a 24/7 shift pattern.
