Industrial Health and Safety Advisor

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Industrial Health and Safety Advisor to join our team at Meridian Business Support in Exeter.

The Opportunity
  • Deliver professional Health & Safety and Environment advice across all areas of manufacturing and operations
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations
  • Support the development and implementation of EHS strategies
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure full compliance with UK legislation and company standards for environment, health, and safety
  • Provide technical advice and support for a complex manufacturing site
  • Design and deliver training programs, including toolbox talks, permit writing, risk assessment, and emergency procedures
  • Maintain training databases, matrices, and annual schedules
  • Assist with internal and external auditing processes and maintain COSHH systems
  • Support and develop a team of local shop floor EHS Coordinators
  • Accurately report and investigate incidents and near misses
  • Complete and review risk assessments and safe systems of work in accordance with current legislation and company standards
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar Health & Safety and Environment role within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of UK and European health and safety legislation
  • NEBOSH Certificate
  • Ideally a degree in Health & Safety Management or the equivalent level of practical experience
  • Proven EHS professional with excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills
