About the Role

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Operative to join our team at Sykes Cottages Ltd. As a key member of our property care team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of maintenance and repair for our managed services properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to guest complaints and resolve maintenance situations in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  • Manage and deliver the best quality and reliable upkeep of our managed services properties.
  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers to source experienced and qualified professionals for repairs and maintenance.
  • Record information accurately and process jobs completed via our KEA system.
  • Carry out regular property inspections and maintenance checks, recording findings using our online management system.
  • Work closely with owners and guests to ensure they receive the support they need.
  • Monitor and set heating and hot water controls in line with seasonal changes.
  • Comply with all Health & Safety policies and legislative requirements.
  • Maintain company vehicles to a high standard and report any faults in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure adequate stock levels and have all necessary tools and equipment to complete tasks.
  • Support Quality Assurance team members by completing thorough property checks.
  • Process business expenses through our Concur system in a timely manner.
  • Arrange refuse collections as required.

Requirements

  • A full, clean driving license is essential.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance and trade skills to a high standard.
  • One or more of the following trade skills: Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrician, Gas Engineer, Plasterer or Painter and Decorator.
  • Ability to react quickly and effectively to emergency situations.
  • Problem-solving skills and good communication skills to liaise with owners and guests.
  • Good IT skills.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Professional trade qualifications.
  • Experience and understanding of building systems, e.g. boilers, security and fire alarms.
  • Good knowledge of the local area.
  • Holiday let/hospitality industry experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety responsibilities for holiday letting.
  • Good customer service standards.
