Exciting Graduate Development Opportunity


Sandoz Device Development Centre (SDDC) is a leading medical device design and development centre within the Impellam Group, based in Cambridge. We are currently seeking a talented Mechanical Engineering student to join our team as a graduate development opportunity.


The successful candidate will have a solid grounding in engineering theory, a working knowledge of materials & tools, and an appetite for building, testing, and refining prototypes. They will also be bright, self-motivated, resourceful, action-oriented, and confident in taking on responsibilities.


As a graduate development opportunity, this role offers the chance to gain valuable experience in the entire product development process, working on a mixture of projects, and developing skills in engineering design, analysis, and problem-solving. Our team is open to collaboration, and we encourage our interns to take ownership of their projects and make meaningful contributions to our work.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Design, analysis, and testing of mechanical devices and systems
  • Development of prototypes and proof-of-concepts
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver projects
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting
  • Time and workload management, and achievement of specified deliverables

Essential Requirements:


  • Currently studying an Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at a UK University
  • Strong understanding of engineering theory and principles
  • Previous experience with product design, fluid dynamics, 3D CAD, and/or data acquisition & analysis

Desirable Requirements:


  • Experience working in a design and development environment
  • Knowledge of materials science and manufacturing processes
  • Skills in programming languages such as Python or MATLAB
