About the Role

Protocol Education is seeking a skilled Behavioural Support to join a special school supporting young people disengaged from mainstream education.

About the School:

The school is a co-educational special school catering to children aged 7-14 with severe social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Most students attending the school have behavioural difficulties and associated disorders which have caused problems in mainstream schools.

About the Position:

As a Behavioural Support, you will provide support for students with SEMH needs who may find it difficult or be reluctant to engage in education. This will include building rapport with students and creating positive relationships which influence them to regulate their behaviour.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for students with SEMH needs
  • Build rapport with students and create positive relationships
  • Help students regulate their behaviour
  • Work collaboratively with the school team to improve student outcomes

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
  • Passion for improving the outcomes for young people
  • Outgoing and confident individual with the ability to deal with behavioural difficulties
  • Desirable: qualification in Team Teach and experience in dealing with young people who have SEMH needs
