Rotational Occupational Therapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team at The Christie NHS FT. As a Rotational Occupational Therapist, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing high-quality care to patients with complex physical, psychosocial, and cognitive problems related to cancer and its treatment.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients, using clinical reasoning skills and knowledge of evidence-based practice to determine treatment plans, rehabilitation, and discharge planning.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care, including collaborating with senior physiotherapists to deliver a high-quality efficient service to patients.
- Develop and implement goal-orientated interventions with patients/carers, monitoring, evaluating, and modifying treatment plans as necessary.
- Assess for specialist adaptive equipment and provide training and advice on safe moving and handling within the ward environment and to facilitate discharge to the patient's home environment.
- Liaise effectively with other National Health, Social Services, private, and voluntary agencies to ensure the safety of patients while undergoing treatment.
The Christie NHS FT is one of Europe's leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of millions across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist, around 15% of patients are referred to us from other parts of the country. We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services. We are also an international leader in research, with world-first breakthroughs for over 100 years.
Requirements- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC Registration
- Previous post-registration experience, with evidence of postgraduate training appropriate to meet the knowledge and skills outlined in the job description
- Experience of managing patients with complex presentations, complex moving and handling skills, including hoisting, and working in a Multi-Disciplinary Team
- Ability to work autonomously, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and advanced clinical reasoning and analytical skills
