Financial Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team at Michael Page (UK). The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial statements and supporting the year-end audit process.
Key Responsibilities- Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Completion of balance sheet reconciliations for the external audit, ensuring all discrepancies are resolved and accounted for.
- Financial Statement Preparation: Review of three entities' trial balance and consolidated trial balance for the group accounts, with a focus on producing high-quality, audit-ready draft financial statements and group financial statements.
- Year-End Accounts Preparation: Management of the year-end accounts preparation and audit process, including the production of a robust year-end timetable with clearly defined deliverables.
- Audit Trail and Compliance: Maintenance of a high-quality audit trail recording all assumptions, judgments, and estimates made in preparing the account, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Team Collaboration: Effective liaison with non-Finance team members to ensure prompt delivery of information required for year-end and audit, using effective escalation where necessary.
- Process Improvement: Conducting meaningful post-audit lessons learnt reviews to identify areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance the year-end accounting and audit process.
- Financial Accounting Expertise: Strong financial accounting technical background, demonstrated by an accounting qualification.
- Year-End Experience: Previous year-end accounting and audit facing experience gained in an organisation of a similar size or larger.
- Technical Skills: Excellent Excel skills and ability to work with financial data.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills able to build trust within the Finance team, beyond it, and with auditors.
- Day rate: £400 - £500 per day.
- Hybrid working: 2 days in the office.
