Palliative Care Nurse Specialist

The Northern Ireland Hospice is a leading provider of specialist care for life-limited children and their families. We are seeking an experienced Palliative Care Nurse Specialist to join our team at Horizon House, working in partnership with families and healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to work as part of our dedicated team, providing expert care and support to children and families living with complex needs. As a Palliative Care Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, and delivering individualized care plans, ensuring that each child receives the best possible quality of life.
Working closely with our multidisciplinary team, you will participate in patient assessments, develop and implement care plans, and delegate tasks to non-registered care team members. Your expertise and passion for palliative care will enable you to promote a philosophy of holistic care, engaging children and families in decision-making and empowering them to take control of their care.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and plan individualized care for children with complex needs
- Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Delegate tasks to non-registered care team members, promoting a culture of delegation and empowerment
- Participate in patient reviews and updates, ensuring ongoing assessment and evaluation of care
To succeed in this role, you will require:
- A strong background in palliative care, ideally with experience working with children and families
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children, families, and healthcare professionals
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
- A commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, with a focus on dignity, respect, and compassion
In return for your expertise and dedication, we offer a competitive salary package, including:
- £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
- A generous annual leave entitlement, starting at 27 days per year, plus 10 statutory days
