Senior Accountant Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team in Durham. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and reviewing accounts for a diverse and significant client portfolio.
You will liaise directly with clients, sending final accounts, proactively handling queries, and building trusted relationships. Additionally, you will forecast and manage budgets, oversee workflow, and mentor junior staff with training and knowledge sharing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing personal and corporation tax computations, including tax returns, tax liabilities, and providing trusted advisory.
- Oversight, review, and preparation of VAT services.
- Working closely with senior team members, ensuring expectations, deadlines, and budgets are being met.
- Promoting and striving for customer service excellence and setting an example to junior staff as a hands-on and proactive Senior Accountant.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
- ATT/ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent, a finalist or qualified by experience.
- A proven track record of working with clients within practice.
- Working knowledge of accounting software, including Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, cloud software, and CCH.
- Strong communication skills.
- Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Self-motivated and able to oversee workflow.
- A team player able to bring out the best in others.
- Confidently mentor junior team members, in a positive and constructive manner.
