Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team in Durham. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and reviewing accounts for a diverse and significant client portfolio.

You will liaise directly with clients, sending final accounts, proactively handling queries, and building trusted relationships. Additionally, you will forecast and manage budgets, oversee workflow, and mentor junior staff with training and knowledge sharing.

Oversight, review, and preparation of VAT services are also key responsibilities. You will prepare personal and corporation tax computations, including tax returns, tax liabilities, and providing trusted advisory.

As a Senior Accountant, you will work closely with senior team members, ensuring expectations, deadlines, and budgets are being met. You will promote and strive for customer service excellence and set an example to junior staff as a hands-on and proactive Senior Accountant.

Requirements
  • ATT/ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent, a finalist or qualified by experience.
  • A proven track record of working with clients within practice.
  • Working knowledge of accounting software, including Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, cloud software, and CCH.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Self-motivated and able to oversee workflow.
  • A team player able to bring out the best in others.
