About the role

This part-time subject tutor position is ideal for individuals who enjoy sharing their knowledge with young adults. The successful candidate will teach a dynamic syllabus, create engaging topics, and facilitate university-style study.

Main duties

  1. Plan your own course using your subject expertise to prepare tailored teaching materials for a class of up to 8 students aged 18-24.
  2. Seminar and tutorial teaching: Create a positive, yet challenging experience with a productive learning environment and strong work ethic for students.
  3. Facilitate university-style study: Set sufficient pre-course work and independent study throughout the course to encourage students to develop their own ideas.
  4. Provide feedback: Support students' academic development through individual feedback during paired tutorials and informal feedback on other work completed.
  5. Complete an induction: Familiarise yourself with company procedures, logistical requirements, and safeguarding in advance.
  6. Support students: Record attendance and report any welfare concerns to keep students safe.

  1. You're enthusiastic about sharing your subject expertise with ambitious young people.
  2. You take an inclusive, question-led approach to teaching based on student contributions.
  3. You understand the range of subject knowledge and abilities of different 18-24 year olds.
  4. You're comfortable explaining complex concepts to non-specialists.
  5. You appreciate the importance of looking after young people.

Key requirements

  • Master's or higher degree in a relevant field.

Benefits
