Nomura Holdings, Inc. is a leading financial services group seeking an experienced Public Affairs Manager to join its busy team. As a key member of the Corporate Communications department, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head of Corporate Communications in providing strategic and tactical media relations advice.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial markets and a proven track record of securing positive media coverage through various means. This is a great opportunity for a seasoned media professional looking to take on new challenges or someone looking to gain responsibility.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Corporate Communications in providing strategic communications advice and crisis comms counsel.
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with journalists and stakeholders throughout the business.
  • Prepare press releases, media materials, announcements, and briefing points that align with Nomura's global narrative and core messages.
  • Secure positive media coverage and support award applications as needed.
  • Maintain a robust governance process partnering with Compliance, IT Security, Business Continuity, Legal, and Corporate Communications colleagues.
  • Collaborate with different people across the organization to contribute to the growth and profitability of Nomura.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., communications, journalism, public relations).
  • Proven experience in creating and implementing strategic media relations plans to support global business objectives.
  • Experience of working in financial services and understanding of key financial media requirements.
  • A strong grasp of political and economic issues and ability to identify story ideas and content.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including news sense and judgement.
  • Ability to be flexible and multi-task on a daily basis.

Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience.
