As a key member of our clinical support team, you will play a vital role in providing administrative and clinical support to our doctors and patients.

Job Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to support our clinicians in providing high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support doctors with administrative tasks, including adding information to patient records, contacting patients, and preparing referrals.
  • Carry out basic clinical duties, such as taking blood pressure, performing ECGs, and taking blood samples, under the supervision of a GP.
  • Liaise with external organizations to obtain information and complete forms as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain basic clinical skills, including phlebotomy and clinical coding.

Professional Development

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to complete training on all areas within the Health Education England General Practice Assistant Competency Framework. This will include training on various IT systems, developing a working knowledge of administrative processes, and attending external training courses.

Person Specification

  • Completed or working towards completing the GP Assistant framework.
  • Completed a phlebotomy course.
  • Demonstrated Maths and English at GCSE level.
  • Experience working in a health environment, team, and with a clinical IT system.
  • Working knowledge of IT systems such as SystmOne and Microsoft Office products.
  • Understanding of confidentiality, medical terminology, and the referral process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work in a team and prioritize workload.
