About the Role

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Nursing Leader to join our team as Deputy Matron at the West Wing Clinical Research Centre and the Drug Development Unit.

Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and experienced nursing leader to oversee the daily operational management of WWCRC and DDU, ensuring high-quality patient care and safe service delivery. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership to the nursing and administrative teams, developing tools to improve quality and coordinating clinical services across the department.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of high-quality specialist nursing services, delivering key performance targets and quality measures.
  • Monitor clinical standards, evaluate patient care, and implement evidence-based practice guidelines and care pathways.
  • Identify and address poor practice or declining standards of care, ensuring responsible resource management while promoting safety and care.
  • Cultivate nursing influence in decision-making and enhance the contribution of nursing to clinical patient management within the service.

Requirements

  • RGN qualification with relevant post-registration specialist courses and experience in oncology nursing.
  • Substantial current post-registration clinical experience in oncology nursing, including at least 2 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience in research, particularly in phase I clinical trials and experimental cancer medicine centers.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with expertise in operational, staff, and budget management.
  • Familiarity with frameworks supporting clinical research and good insight into current health policy development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to articulate the nursing contribution to healthcare.

Salary Information

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £75,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
