We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Children's Support Worker to join our team in a BRAND NEW children's residential service in Chudleigh Knighton, Newton Abbot.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to gain more responsibility, continue their career progression, and personal development.
The successful candidate will have experience as a Children's Support Worker or Team Leader within a similar social care setting or with Young People.
The role involves supporting young people between the ages of 8-18 years old with learning/physical disabilities, complex health needs, autism, and challenging behaviours.
Key Responsibilities:
- To encourage the young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age
- To support the manager and team in all aspects of the day-to-day operations, including managing staff teams, and budgets and ensuring that the quality of the services provided meets expected care standards
- To keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes
- To be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed
- Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
- Support the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being
- Ensuring the safety of the young people and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication
- Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, and professionals involved in the young people's lives
- Organise and participate in activities and holidays, ensuring risk assessments have been followed
Requirements:
- Experience as a Children's Support Worker or Team Leader within a similar social care setting or with Young People ESSENTIAL
- Level 3 NVQ in Children & Young People or equivalent ESSENTIAL
- Hold a Full UK Manual Driving Licence, due to the nature of the role you may be required to transport the young people ESSENTIAL
- Childrens Homes Regulations and Safeguarding Knowledge ESSENTIAL
