Job Purpose

At Halfords, we're committed to leveraging data-driven insights to drive business growth and efficiency. To achieve this, we're seeking a highly skilled Group Supply Chain Data Scientist to join our team.

The successful candidate will work closely with our Group Supply Chain Analytics Manager to analyze and interpret large datasets from various internal and external sources. Using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques, they will develop actionable insights to inform decision-making across our supply chain.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with Supply Chain stakeholders to understand business objectives and identify opportunities for data-driven solutions.
  2. Develop and maintain weekly KPI dashboards to provide real-time visibility into supply chain performance.
  3. Design and implement data visualizations to communicate complex insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  4. Stay up-to-date with the latest data science technologies and techniques to drive innovation and improvement.
  5. Work closely with cross-functional teams to embed a self-service analytics capability, automating processes to reduce manual intervention and drive efficiency.
Key Skills/Experience
  1. Proven experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst, with a strong background in statistical programming and database query languages.
  2. Experience in data mining, data wrangling, and working with big data technologies such as Azure Databricks and Snowflake.
  3. Strong applied statistical and probability skills, including knowledge of statistical tests, distributions, and regression.
  4. Understanding of machine learning methods, including k-nearest neighbors, naive Bayes classifiers, support vector machines, and random forests.
  5. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to describe complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
